Waste Facility Community Space
how might we create a perception shift around waste?
Traditionally, waste has been relegated to the outskirts of cities, leading to a lack of awareness about its treatment and the emergence of huge waste mountains. With SAHAAS’ new waste treatment plant in the heart of the city of Gurgaon, we saw a unique opportunity to reimagine how waste is talked about in the community.
Recognizing the vast potential of a disused ground next to the waste treatment facility, we worked with NCR Waste Matters to reimagine this space as a vibrant community hub—a platform for education and fostering positive discourse and initiatives around waste management.
Crafted entirely from repurposed stone, bricks, and construction waste, this disused area now stands as a symbol of sustainable transformation. It serves as a space for education, redressal, discussion, and even celebration of waste. Our design embraces simple, eco-conscious measures, fostering a long-term impact on spreading the message of waste circularity within the community.
